Is there a guarantee or warranty?
While The Portable Tow Truck will work in most situations, we cannot guarantee that they will work in every situation. As for the warranty, we will replace any traction pad that arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect at no charge.
What’s your return policy?
The Portable Tow Truck can be returned only if it is unused and the package is unopened. The shipping/freight charges will not be refunded.
What are they made of?
They are made of ultra-strong polypropylene, which means they are rugged and long lasting.
How many come in a package?
Each package comes with two (2) Portable Tow Truck traction pads, one for each drive tire.
How large are they?
Each traction pad is 36 inches long by 8 inches wide by 7/8 inches thick (including the height of the cleats). Each pad weighs 2.5 pounds.
Are they reusable?
Yes. The Portable Tow Truck is made of ultra-strong polypropylene, which means they can be used again and again, thus saving time and money with each and every use.
Will they work on large trucks?
They are designed to work on single-rear-axle trucks up to and exceeding 26,000 pounds GVWR. We have heard reports of them working on large tractor trailer trucks, but they are not designed for use with that size truck.
Will they work in every situation?
The Portable Tow Truck traction mats will not work in every situation. They are designed to provide instant traction in shallow mud and snow, as well as on sand and ice. If the tires are in deep mud or snow or your vehicle is buried up to the axle, the traction mats may not help.
Do they really work on ice?
Yes. We have confirmed reports that they have worked for vehicles that were stuck on patches of ice.
Do they replace tire chains?
No. Even though we market The Portable Tow Truck as an alternative to tire chains, they do not replace tire chains. Tire chains are for driving longer distances on snow covered roads. The Portable Tow Truck is designed to give emergency traction after your vehicle gets stuck on small patches or shallow layers of snow, ice, or mud. You should carry both tire chains and The Portable Tow Truck in your vehicle so you are prepared no matter what situation you find yourself driving in.
Do you ship to Alaska and Hawaii?
We do ship to Hawaii and Alaska. However, shipments going to these two states are not eligible for the $9.95 flat rate shipping or the free shipping on orders of 2 or more.
